Reviews: what they say

Dr. Marlene is a gifted speaker with a wonderful ability to make every audience member feel comfortable. Our third monthly program, "Family, Food, & Fun" was a great success, Dr. Marlene's programs are very informative, with her warm smile, humorous stories, and interactive question-and-answer time. Thanks, Dr. Marlene, for a fun afternoon. We are looking forward to next month's Educational Moments program, "Free Your Mind."

Marlene, how thoughtful of you…to send me an interesting article as well...I am of course going to miss our conversations about our families, your AAFP journals with highlighted articles, seeing you so animated and excited about your latest literary creations, and so much else. But what I will miss the most is a wonderful human being that has dedicated her life to serving others. You have taught me much.

Dr. Wolf, Overall this was my favorite course this semester and I'm not just saying that to you - I've told my family and close friends this as well. It was never boring from nutrition news to case studies, bitables, Kahoots, and your powerpoints stocked with interesting information and resources, and comic strips. You were respectful of our time even when we transitioned to online Zoom calls and as a slight type A personality, I really appreciate your organization and lesson plans, and energy during the course. I love how you always make everyone in our class participate in discussions and case presentations. It has also been extremely helpful that you focus our discussions around how we would communicate what we learn in your class to our patients. My favorite part was the clinical application every week. I have taken away many clinical gems. Before COVID-19 I communicated nutritional advice to my patients much more effectively thanks to your tips and saw much better patient compliance with my recommendations the more I learned in your course. For example, asking patients "are you willing to add something to your diet?" and saying "food plan" instead of "diet" and compromising with the patients based on their lifestyles so they will actually implement recommendations. Our class is full of interesting personalities and dynamics and I admire that you were able to get everyone involved in discussions and interactions during this course. It shows through your energetic teaching style that you are passionate about nutrition and I learned a lot through this semester in your class. Thank you very much for your time and energy.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with and producing two Educational Films for our CEU Online Website featuring Dr. Marlene Wolf. Dr. Wolf is an extraordinarily talented presenter with a unique ability to convey information in a methodical and clear manner.

One of the few classes where that had great PowerPoints, which were short, sweet, and to the point. Dr. Wolf is kind and respectful. I liked the cases where we had to find a solution to the problem. I cannot wait to add nutritional support to my patients.

Dr. Marlene is universally respected and liked by her colleagues and peers, and her students absolutely adore her. She is an enormously talented and gifted educator and has a calmness of presence that transcends understanding even when faced with enormous administrative requirements and responsibilities. Her ever-present smile and delightful demeanors make her a joy to be around, and her professionalism and work ethic are stellar.

I enjoyed your talk tonight [Toastmasters Evaluation Tips ]. The speech was great. It helped me separate the speech from the person. Thank you!

Simple language to explain the situation to young readers ("a pandemic is when many people are sick")…reflecting the emotions of children unable to leave home during the Covid-19 era…Polished, cartoon style illustrations of the animal characters and their beach setting have expressive charm with each image designed around white space that provides background for the clear, black text. A brief glossary and “Happy Talking Points” are included.“

“Dr. Marlene’s quest to bring medical knowledge, healthy living and mindfulness to her audience is supported excellently by this new offering, which encourages engagement with reading by presenting information in a fun and interesting way. Rich varied language with elements of challenge support the storyline but are presented in a relatable form, thus creating a positive reading experience which is developmentally appropriate. Dr Marlene completes her educational book with hands-on activities such as colouring pages and ‘Happy Talking Points’ which provide the perfect plenary for learning. A great pedagogic book with a practical and reassuring message, ‘Happy Ever After- A Pandemic Tale’ is highly recommended."
"This book is unlike any other children's book I've read before! It's funny, clever, cute, informative, and warm-hearted. All 3 of my grandchildren enjoyed me reading it to them, and I can't wait to read it again!"

"Best suited to introducing the basic concepts of outbreaks, or to start a deeper conversation, Happy Every After offers Andrew M.’s striking, inviting illustrations… Magical thinking ends a pandemic in this upbeat animal tale."
"Thank you for the books. It was a good read and my grandchildren will enjoy it as well."

"We got your book … and read it that night! I loved the way the story got my kids talking about their own experiences during the pandemic (and my son is autistic, and rarely uses expressive speech)."

"I read this book to my 5-year-old daughter, Olivia, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. She actually asks me to read it to her at least twice a week, and she’s already colored in all of the wonderful coloring pages!"
Brittany G.
"I read this with my 10 and 5-year-old children. They liked the illustrations and could follow the storyline and character perspectives. They both offered comments about their own pandemic experiences, which I turned into intermittent conversations while we read. There were even coloring pages at the end, which my daughter adored!"
Mary K.
"Seeing this book come to life was such an honor! The story is a perfect way to convey to children the challenges of the pandemic, and how we adapted. The illustrations really paint the picture and show the world from the perspective of animals dealing with the pandemic. It's a fantastic read from start to finish, and any child reading it will be absolutely in love!"

"This charming book, written by a family physician and illustrated by a talented artist, looks at the disruptions of the Covid 19 pandemic from the eyes of animals -- both real (turtles and seagulls) and imaginary (unicorns.) She shows how the animals coped with the challenges, but were glad when things came back to normal".

"Great educator. It was amazing. Very professional and great teacher'

"Always making changes to better suit the present!

The best teaching style anyone could ever ask for."
